This scheme supports outstanding researchers of any nationality, either medically qualified or science graduates, who wish to pursue a research career in an academic institution in India. Applicants must have demonstrated their ability to lead an independent research project and group.

Eligibility

You should normally have between seven to twelve years of post-PhD or equivalent clinical research experience. It is not essential for medical or veterinary degree holders to have a PhD. Due allowance will be given to an applicant whose career has been affected for personal reasons.

Applicants for the Senior Fellowship typically have a substantial record of publications and would have made significant intellectual contributions in their chosen area of research. Supervision of students and extra mural funding are also positively considered.

Candidates need not be Indian nationals or of India origin but must already be pursuing or intending to pursue an academic research career in India.

You may apply even if you already hold another Fellowship. However, please note that if awarded, you will be required to make a choice between your current Fellowship and the India Alliance Fellowship. The prestigious Huygens Scholarship Programme is open to excellent students from all countries of the world. You are an excellent student: you have obtained excellent results in all your previous studies and you are at least in the top 5% of students in your study or research programme. The Dutch study programme should be registered in CROHO, the Central Register of Higher Education Programmes. You can find this information in the Dutch nomination letter provided by the Dutch host institution.
You should be in the final phase of your bachelor’s studies, or studying towards a master’s degree in the Netherlands, and your study must be used to earn a degree at the Dutch institution.

under the project "Modeling and detection of hydrocarbons in sea water" and the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation to support and co-financed by RESON A / S. coordinated

Description of the larger project
The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico with the rig Deepwater Horizon is one of the greatest disasters in the history of oil. More than 4.9 million barrels of crude oil sank in the ocean and is used for many years now an ecological disaster. Unlike previous theories, but oil is not only the surface but also in large quantities in both the water column and seabed. This may be partly contributable to the use of dispersants, however, indicate that we do not know enough about how oil behaves in water, and when it interacts with the oil leak at a product such great depths, as is the case with Deepwater Horizon. Leakage of oil in the Arctic regions will most likely even more disastrous consequences than previously seen in the Gulf of Mexico and thus reveal the need for effective methods to detect leaks and to have the map of oil deposits in the column water when leaks.

The project vision is to develop a model base oil seawater contaminated products of state-of the art sonar technology with an efficient method for the detection of oil in the water column to grow .

The specific objective of the PhD project
The project is a Ph.D AMAs thermodynamics (based on theories association SAFT-type) to predict different properties (phase behavior / solubility, density, speed, etc.) in oil-water mixtures on developing wide range of conditions (temperature, pressure, salinity) and for a wide range of blends (type and origins).

Required Skills

Diploma (MSc) in Chemical Engineering or other relevant fields;
Very good knowledge of applied thermodynamics;
Good programming skills, preferably in FORTRAN;
Good writing skills in English;
Knowledge of advanced thermodynamic models (SAFT-type) and the thermodynamic electrolyte will be an additional qualification

The GCA Interchange Fellowship and RHS McLaren Horticultural Scholarship 2011–2012

Financial sponsorship in the United Kingdom was first provided by Fisons Corporation, then from 1973 to 1982 by the Stanley Smith Horticultural Foundation, and from 1982 to 1983 by the McLaren Trust. In 1988, Mrs. McLaren provided funding of the fellowship to be named the Martin McLaren Scholarship in memory of her husband. Mrs. McLaren provided funding, guidance, and personal hospitality to students.

The American recipient became known as the Martin McLaren Scholar. In 2006, the McLaren Trust partnered with the Royal Horticultural Society to support the scholarship and the administration transferred from the Institute of Horticulture to the RHS Wisley. The GCA Interchange Fellowship & Martin McLaren Scholarship name was changed in 2009 to the GCA Interchange Fellowship/RHS McLaren Horticultural Scholarship.For one American scholar (McLaren Scholar) annually, 8500 British pounds for ten months of enrichment study under the auspices of the Royal Horticultural Society. The McLaren Trust and the RHS cover the cost of transportation, tuition, housing, board, and an allowance for personal needs during the American student’s academic year in Great Britain. The GCA makes travel arrangements to the U.K. Any additional funds for personal expenses exceeding the allowance are supplied by the candidate.For one British scholar (Interchange Fellow) annually, up to $30,000 USD. NOTE: The Law Foundation Graduate Fellowship is not available for the graduate programs of the Faculties of Law at the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria as the Law Foundation makes separate grants to the Graduate Fellowship programs at these universities.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must either be residents of British Columbia; graduates of a British Columbia law school; or members of the British Columbia Bar. In order to be eligible, applicants must devote themselves primarily to their full-time graduate studies in law or a law-related area.

TERMS OF FELLOWSHIP: The Fellowships are available for the 2011 - 2012 academic year. The aim of this studentship is to develop new computational models to assess uncertainties in the prediction of climate change impacts and explore alternative policy response strategies to better mitigate climate vulnerability. It will formally identify and quantify sources of uncertainty and explore probabilistic methods (e.g. Probabilistic Graphical Models) which capture distributions over possible futures and allow efficient inference over hidden (unobservable) variables.

This project is highly inter-disciplinary and will bring together expertise in "scenario-based" simulations of climate change and probabilistic modelling of interactions under uncertainty.

It will be jointly supervised by Oliver Lemon (Department of Computer Science, Heriot-Watt University) and Mark Rounsevell (Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability, Edinburgh University). If successful, the degree will be awarded by Heriot-Watt University.

Candidates should have a First Class Honours or a good Master's degree in Computer Science or Mathematics and have excellent programming skills. Experience with probabilistic modelling techniques and statistics is essential, and knowledge of machine learning and agent-based modelling is highly desirable. A background in climate change, ecology and scenario-based modelling would also be desirable, but is not strictly necessary.

The stipend will cover all study fees and a living stipend for 4 years. The project will also provide travel funds for the student to attend international conferences.

Kent Business School (KBS) invites applications for a full time research studentship leading to the degree of PhD commencing in June 2010. Kent Business School is the business and management department of the University of Kent. Over the last five years the School has experienced a major shift in research culture and undergone considerable expansion appointing over 19 senior research-active academics. In the 2008 RAE, 55% of our research was classified as “world leading and internationally excellent” and the Business School leapt from the middle of the RAE table to the top third of all UK Business Schools.

PhD students attend a rich and varied programme of research and business seminars and participation in a yearly Poster Competition.

Applications are invited for an EU-funded full-time PhD Research Studentship to work on a project using Value Chain Analysis to examine the competitiveness of agrifood food supply chains in Mediterranean Partner Countries. Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for European Master of Science - International Health Degree Programme

The European Master of Science Programme in International Health is part of tropEd, a network of 33 European and 7 non-European institutions for higher education. In existence since 1996, tropEd collaborates closely with institutions in Asia, Africa, and the Americas in providing postgraduate education and training opportunities.

The European Master of Science Programme in International Health is a one year, full-time study programme taught in English excepted in Mexico (in spanish). The main objective of the programme is to raise awareness of current global health concerns. Students become qualified to identify and critically analyse key factors shaping the health and well-being of populations in low- and middle-income countries and to formulate effective and appropriate responses to complex health-related issues.

The tropEd EMMC is offered by 7 European Institutions, and 3 Third Country Institutions, each contributing with Specific expertise in a particular area of International Health:

Admission

European Master of Science in International Health Programme

The minimum admission criteria for the tropEd EMMC are:

Bachelors degree with honours (240 ECTS credits / 4 years) or equivalent;
2 years relevant professional experience;
2 persons recommendation letters minimum;
Internationally recognised English proficiency certificate equivalent to TOEFL score of 550/213/79-80 or IELTS score 6.0. (Reference CEEC - Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). No other test will be accepted. No English test is required if a first degree in English has been completed.

The joint Common selection criteria for students are:

- Excellent first degree with outstanding grades and/or other study results;
- Strongly convincing letter/statement of motivation/statement of intent, including a career plan;
- Excellent recommendations by one academic and one professional referee;
- Well-developed thesis proposal.

If you are a non-EU student

- Contribution to travel, installation and any other type of costs: € 4000
Maximum contribution to the EMMC participation costs (including insurance coverage):
€ 4000 / semester
- Monthly allowance: € 1000 / month

If you are an EU student inside the EU

- Maximum contribution to the EMMC participation costs (including insurance coverage):
€ 2000 / semester
- Monthly allowance: € 500 / month

If you are an EU student outside the EU

- Contribution to travel, installation and any other type of costs: € 3000
Maximum contribution to the EMMC participation costs (including insurance coverage):
€ 2000 / semester
- Monthly allowance: € 500 / month

Participation costs must be understood as any compulsory administrative/operational cost related to the participation of the student in the EMMC (e.g. library, laboratory, tuition, social security and insurance costs, etc.). Any other costs that may be charged in addition (e.g. for participation in fieldwork activities), being compulsory or voluntary, must be communicated to the candidate student at application stage.

Monthly allowance amounts may be increased in order to cover the additional costs of students with special needs; EMMCs will have to inform the Agency accordingly in the context of their annual student scholarship applications.

The University of Edinburgh will offer 20 Master's scholarships for postgraduate study in any subject offered by the University for the 2010-2011 academic session.
